We are so grateful for each person who comes to our website seeking cheese! It is disappointing and frustrating for all of us when we are not able to get cheese to people who want it. While it is possible to ship cheese all over the country, we run into a lot of problems when we do it! Shipping is MUCH more expensive and we have to work with bigger shipping companies which make many more mistakes than our small, regional shipping company. The end result is that our customer service time becomes a full-time job as we have to deal with angry emails regarding shipping costs AND customers who receive late orders or warm cheese. Even when everything goes perfectly, a customer that forgot their cheese box was sitting out in the sun can take 45 minutes out of the week while requesting both a refund and a free replacement. Hopefully we will eventually have the capacity to expand our customer service department to absorb both the time and the negative energy of national shipping. For the time being, sticking to shorter ship times with a smaller company has allowed us to improve customer experiences and still have time to address the occasional mishap.
