Lake Cairo was a large, shallow lake that was drained in 1895 so that the land could be farmed. Lost Lake Farm sits on the north shore of Lake Cairo and still has trees along the shoreline -- even some of the same trees that overlooked the old lake! Even though it has been gone for 120 years, Lake Cairo is still very visible from the sky (Lost Lake Farm outlined in blue).
